While both five-passenger vehicles offer about 40 inches of headroom and 41 inches of legroom—more in the case of the Kia—the Sportage is simply more spacious overall. It provides 3.5 inches of additional second-row legroom and is one of the few models in this class to afford more than 41 inches of legroom in the rear row. It also offers about 40 cubic feet of dedicated cargo space, and the difference feels much greater in practice than Toyota suggests that it is on paper. The base Sportage interior also feels more upscale and features an 8-inch center touch screen whereas Toyota still includes a smaller 7-inch display. If you have the budget for more than the base model, you’ll find the options to be similar, including premium synthetic leather seating, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
