2022 Toyota Tundra Overview

The Toyota Tundra is a popular full-size pickup that delivers both on road and off, and Toyota offers a wide range of trim levels and options that let you personalize it to your needs and tastes. This is an interesting time for anyone considering purchasing or leasing a new Tundra as the 2022 model year has arrived, and what makes this particularly compelling is that the 2022 Toyota Tundra now available at Drive Taylor is an all-new model that ushers in the third Tundra generation. There have been fundamental updates to the frame, suspension, steering and transmission. Toyota has introduced a hybrid powertrain for the Tundra for the first time. There is also a new range-topping trim level-Capstone-which now serves as the Tundra flagship and features the hybrid setup standard.

Perhaps the first thing that pops out in a 2022 Toyota Tundra vs 2021 Toyota Tundra comparison is the new aesthetics. Toyota has always opted for a rugged and boxy design with the Tundra, but the new model takes it to another level with a larger, more pronounced grille and sharper angles from bow to stern. In terms of your cab and bed options, those choices remain the same. Three bed options are offered for the 2022 and 2021 Toyota Tundra: 5.5, 6.5 and 8.1 feet. You also have two cab options: double and crew. Both have four doors but the double has smaller rear doors. A notable change for the 2022 model is that the crew cab now gives you the choice of either the 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed. It was previously limited to the smaller bed. The double gives you the option of the two longest beds.

A notable change for the new platform is that Toyota no longer offers a six-passenger option since it was not very popular. But if you prefer that arrangement, then look to the SR and SR5 models of the 2021 Toyota Tundra. Otherwise, all models seat five. Interior spacious remains about the same. While you may notice some changes on paper, the differences are not significant in a practical sense. The changes to the interior are impressive, however. Toyota has opted for straightforward design, and everything in the new cab is well organized and easy to use. The automaker has also added a host of new technologies and amenities that let you deck out your truck as mobile workspace or even a luxury cruiser.

Tech – 2022 Toyota Tundra dealer

The new base model features an 8-inch touchscreen and wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android auto. The 2021 Toyota Tundra base model has a 7-inch touchscreen and non-wireless versions of the Apple and Android software. Standard driver assists remain the same for the most part: automatic headlamps and high beams, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. The new model also has a lane keeping system that makes minor steering adjustments to keep you centered in your lane. In both cases blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors are available and included via the upper trim levels. The most notable tech addition for the new model year is a head-up display that provides information via the windshield. The upper trims also now come with a 14-inch touchscreen that is a real showstopper and perhaps best in class.
