2022 Toyota Tundra Overview

The 2022 Toyota Tundra marks an exciting occasion for pickup fans as a next-generation Tundra has finally arrived and with it comes numerous updates inside and out. Drive Taylor is the leading Toyota dealer serving Boardman Lancaster Hermitage Youngstown Pittsburgh, and we have the new Tundra available in six trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition and TRD Pro. These trim levels may seem familiar to fans familiar with the previous generation, but do not let that fool you. Notable updates include a fully boxed frame, a sophisticated five-link rear suspension, a powerful powertrain lineup, a sheet-molded composite bed, a 10-speed automatic transmission and much more!

Boardman OH - 2022 Toyota Tundra's Overview

Exterior – Toyota Dealer serving Boardman OH

Both the Double Cab and CrewMax cabs have four doors. The main difference is that the larger cab has four full-size doors whereas the base extended cab has smaller rear doors. In both cases, the rear passengers enjoy independent ingress and egress. This time around, Toyota has opted for an aggressive and squared-off design, which is complemented wonderfully by a big, bold grille. Another big change for the Tundra is the new composite bed, which means that there is no longer a need for a bedliner. Toyota has also introduced more than 50 dealer-installed add-ons. That means that this is the most customizable Tundra ever, and you can contact Drive Taylor to learn more about those options.

Interior – 2022 Toyota Tundra in Boardman OH

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is available in two cab styles. Its extended cab is called the Double Cab, and its crew cab is called the CrewMax. Both configurations provide 41.2 inches of front legroom. That number is a bit smaller on paper than the previous model, but the design along with added hip room and shoulder room means that the new space actually feels larger for practical purposes. The rear seat of the Double Cab affords 33.3 inches of legroom, which is ample roominess for most adults, but drivers who want more can opt for the CrewMax, which provides an impressive 41.6 inches of rear legroom.

Toyota Tundra Mechanical specs

What jumped out as we prepared this 2022 Toyota Tundra review is just how much has changed on the mechanical front. What has not changed is that you still have the choice of either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. What has changed is a redesigned transmission and suspension. There are also more mechanical options than ever, and Toyota is introducing a hybrid version of the truck called the i-Force Max. Details are still sparse on that option, so stay tuned for more information soon.

Powertrain – Toyota Dealership in Boardman OH

The 5.7-liter V8 that has powered the Tundra for a long time is gone, and while that may seem like a sad thing at first, it is rather exciting. In its place, our location serving Boardman Lancaster Hermitage Youngstown Pittsburgh offers two V6 engines, which will both be paired with the new 10-speed automatic transmission. The standard engine is a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that makes 389 hp and 479 lb.-ft. of torque, which is more performance than the outgoing V8. If you want even more power and torque, you can opt for the hybrid version of that powertrain, which makes 437 hp and 585 lb.-ft.

Safety – 2022 Toyota Tundra dealer

The 2022 Toyota Tundra has an 8-inch touchscreen, which is similar to the outgoing model in terms of dimensions but considerably different when it comes to its high-definition resolution, color, responsiveness and so forth. There is also an optional 14-inch touchscreen. What was not available as of this writing was the standard and available driver-assistance tech. We can make some presumptions based on the previous model since the base SR trim level came with automatic headlamps, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and lane departure warning. Other items available included integrated navigation, blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors.
