Hermitage PA - 2022 Chevrolet Traverse's Overview

Handling – Chevrolet Dealership serving Hermitage

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse has a large number of wheel options that firmly outdo the Acadia. This is a real problem for an Acadia model that wants to be seen as a rugged off-road vehicle. What you’ll find is that the Traverse’s equipment is loaded with 20-inch wheel options that don’t even begin to feel a threat from the GMC Acadia this year. The High Country trim will be your top-tier option this year and feature chrome, machined, and blacked out options all around the exterior. Wheels matter a lot to handling, so if you love to feel a big set of wheels in your command, the 2022 Traverse easily outdoes the 2022 GMC Acadia. In addition to the wheel options, you’ll find that the Traverse has a longer wheelbase than the Acadia, by a long shot. This inches you ever closer to that perfect feeling of control so many of the GMC models are just shy of this year.

Performance – 2022 Chevrolet Traverse

This is a no contest area for the 2022 GMC Acadia, a model that ranks 266 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque on its 2.0L turbocharged engine. While the turbocharger is a nice gesture from GMC, the Traverse gets a stronger 3.6L V6 engine that’s rated at 310 horsepower. When there’s this much difference in horsepower, there’s very little left that the Acadia can do to make up for that great stride. You’ll find the compact crossover body style of the Chevrolet Traverse handles its power more precisely, too. Performance doesn’t just count on the exterior equipment. You’ll find that the Traverse performs better in terms of interior comforts as well. Cargo capacity is generously dispersed throughout the Traverse cabin. Folding down the second row means 98.2 cubic feet of interior cargo capacity, compared to just 79 cubic feet of interior cargo capacity for the Acadia. For those who want to feel better handling and performance, you’ll enjoy the ride more inside the Traverse.

Safety – 2022 Chevrolet Traverse in Hermitage

Chevrolet’s new driver-assist features have taken over their segment as of late. What used to be option on their 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is now completely standard across each trim. Both of these models rank a 5-star SUV by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but the award-winning Traverse gets the better of the 2022 GMC Acadia on driver-assist features and their availability. While the Acadia may have many of the same safety features, you’ll have to dig further into the trim lineup to access them. For people planning to buy base models or early trims, this can mean coming up short on safety in an Acadia. The Traverse gets more recognition for its automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and IntelliBeam systems. As recently as 2021, the IIHS issued a “Top Safety Pick” to the Traverse. You’ll feel a lot safer towing this year thanks to a few high quality driver-assist towing features. The Traverse offers up a larger towing capacity (5,000 pounds) than the Acadia. When you want to get things done and safely at all times, the Chevy Traverse is working at a higher standard in 2022.

Winner: 2022 Chevrolet Traverse

The slimmer, more modern design of the 2022 Traverse makes the Acadia look more on the retro side. While retro is fine for some, most people want the ultra modern take on SUVs that the Traverse provides. Its new grille has bronze accents on some higher-level models, while its taillamp design borrows a bit from the space age. New standard safety features like Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking are now standard throughout the trim lineup, meaning you have to upgrade less and get a more complete SUV. It’s a winning combination of new features.
