One of the most exciting features of the new RAV4 is the Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-wheel-drive with Rear Driveline Disconnect. Toyota has made this feature available for those looking to take their new RAV4 off-road and into rugged terrain. But what exactly does this new feature do to help in challenging conditions?

First, all-wheel-drive increases the amount of traction and maneuverability on uneven or slick surfaces. However, the RAV4 incorporates a system that improves response time and stability through the power-to-wheel management system. The RAV4 can send up to 50 percent of available power to the back wheels and even individual wheels when needed. Sensors in the Dynamic Torque Vectoring system can detect when a particular wheel needs more energy and send it there quickly. By varying the level of power sent to each wheel, the technology can help the driver maintain greater control over the RAV4 under challenging circumstances.

With all this power transferred to specific wheels, you might wonder if this all-wheel-drive system is efficient. Fortunately, with Rear Driveline Disconnect enabled, the technology won’t send power to the rear wheels in situations where it’s not needed. The Rear Driveline Disconnect greatly encourages better fuel economy and allows the driver to control when the system is necessary. We are serving Hermitage, Hubbard Ohio, New Castle, and Greenville Pennsylvania.
