The Taylor Auto Group serving Alliance Pittsburgh area drivers is thrilled to announce the arrival of the 2021 Kia Sorento. The Sorento is all-new for this model year and seeks to improve on its rather distinct three-row compact crossover by extending the wheelbase, which makes the third row less cramped. Kia has also expanded the powertrain options, including a hybrid and plug-in hybrid. The aesthetic is now boxier, bolder and much more aggressive. Standard equipment has also been improved and expanded over the previous generation, and Kia has added numerous ways for you to personalize you Sorento. Consumers expect great value propositions from Kia. They also expect the latest driver assistance technologies, and Kia does not disappoint on this front. Tech like forward collision detection, automatic emergency braking and lane departure mitigation are all included in the base package.
Kia has expanded the wheelbase by 1.4 inches, but this difference is apparent on the inside much more than the exterior. The overall length is still less than 190 inches. The previous generation was 189 inches long. The exterior design for the 2021 Kia Sorento near Alliance has changed quite a bit. Gone is the minivan inspiration. This new exterior is modern and angular and borrows many elements, including its hood, from its bigger brother—the Telluride. Kia now offer six distinctive wheel designs, and wheel sizes range from 17 to 20 inches. The range-topping SX-Prestige trim is available with an X-Line package that includes the largest wheels and actually lifts the vehicle by an inch for an even more aggressive stance.
The interior redesign of the 2021 Kia Sorento is even more dramatic. One of the compromises with having a third row in a compact crossover is less-than-average cargo space for the class. This was one of the areas where Kia most wanted to improve, and the new design improves that dedicated space to 12.6 cubic feet from just 11.3 in the previous generation. That means that you can also expect more than 39 cubes with the third row folded and more than 74 cubes with both rows folded. The automaker has also managed to increase legroom a bit across all three rows. An 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital cluster is now standard. A 10.3-inch touchscreen is optional. Kia has also elevated the center screen positioning so it is easier to view without taking your eyes off the road.
The 2021 Kia Sorento near Alliance is available as either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The base powertrain marries a 191-horsepower inline-four-cylinder engine to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A more powerful powertrain marries a 281-hp 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to the eight-speed automatic. It was unclear as of this writing if the more powerful engine would be available across the lineup or exclusive to specific trims. A hybrid powertrain, which will be available at release, features a six-speed automatic, a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder and a 44-kilowatt electric motor. The hybrid is only available with front-wheel drive. Later in the model year, Kia will introduce a plug-in hybrid that is exclusively all-wheel drive and will be similar to the hybrid but with a 66.9-kW motor. Trailering equipment is available, and the Sorento can tow as much as 3,500 pounds.
All Sorento models will have Kia’s latest Uvo infotainment system. An 8.0-inch color infotainment touchscreen will be standard. A 10.3-inch touchscreen will be optional and presumably standard at the higher trim levels. An integrated navigation system will also be available. You can expect all of the bells and whistles, including voice recognition, Bluetooth, wireless Android and Apple integration, multiple USB ports for media and charging, Wi-Fi hotspot and so forth. Options include a wireless charging pad and a premium Bose audio system. Standard driver assistance technologies include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and lane departure mitigation. Blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control will be available and included with the upper trims.
